Find Out Which WordPress Theme a Site Uses

Enter a site's address to see its WordPress theme: the theme's real name, author and version, a link to WordPress.org or the theme's website, and the parent theme when the site uses a child theme. The result also lists the plugins and hosting it can see.

How It Works

  1. It loads the site's home page and confirms it runs WordPress.
  2. It finds the theme folder in file paths such as /wp-content/themes/astra/.
  3. It reads that theme's style.css, where every WordPress theme declares its name, author and version, and its parent theme if it's a child theme.
  4. It checks WordPress.org for a matching free theme.

Each answer shows the evidence it's based on, such as the exact folder found.

Child Themes

Developers usually customise a theme through a child theme, so that updates to the original don't wipe out their changes. The detector shows the parent theme first, because that's the theme you'd install, and names the child theme below it.

When the Theme Can't Be Found

Some sites rename their theme folder, merge all their CSS into one file, or use WordPress only to store content behind a separate front end (a headless site). The result tells you when that happens instead of guessing.
